About Robert Whitfield

Dr. Robert Whitfield is an Austin-based plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, focused on explant surgery, capsulectomy, fat transfer, and breast implant illness (BII). He earned his MD from the University of Nevada School of Medicine, completed general surgery and plastic surgery residencies at Indiana University, and a microsurgery and hand fellowship at the University of Nevada. He has performed more than 2,000 explant procedures, published 15 peer-reviewed papers, and testified before the FDA's General and Plastic Surgery Devices Panel in 2019. A former president of the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation, he created the SHARP Method, a protocol that prepares patients biologically before surgery and structures recovery afterward.
