Dr. Robert Whitfield, MD, FACS is a board-certified plastic surgeon in Austin, TX, specializing in breast implant removal and explant surgery, en bloc capsulectomy with PCR capsule testing, and fat transfer breast augmentation. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a former president of the Aesthetic Surgery Education and Research Foundation (2019), and testified before the FDA's General and Plastic Surgery Devices Panel in 2019 on breast implant illness. He has performed over 2,000 explant procedures and published 15 peer-reviewed papers, including the largest PCR-tested capsule series in the world. Surgery is performed at his own SHARP Surgery Center, a 9,500-square-foot, four-operating-room facility he built in Austin, and he serves patients from over 40 states and 15 countries.
