Facelift: common questions
How much does a facelift cost?
ASPS reports an average surgeon's fee of $11,395. With anesthesia, the facility, and the longer operating time these take, all-in costs commonly run $12,000–$25,000 — and technique drives a lot of that spread. A deep-plane facelift takes longer and is priced accordingly; a 'mini' or short-scar lift is cheaper and does less. Necks are frequently quoted separately. When comparing two very different quotes, the question that resolves most of the gap is which layer is actually being lifted and whether the neck is included.
How long does a facelift last?
Ten years is the usual answer, but it's worth understanding what that means: a facelift repositions tissue, it doesn't stop ageing. You will continue to age from the new starting point, which is why people describe looking like themselves several years younger rather than frozen. Skin quality, sun exposure, smoking and weight fluctuation all shorten it. Results also depend on what else is done — a facelift doesn't treat skin texture or volume loss, which is why it's often combined with resurfacing or fat grafting.
