About Robert Chandler

Robert Chandler, M.D. is a plastic surgeon with The Plastic Surgery Group of Memphis, which he joined in 2004. A Tennessee native, he graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville on a four-year ROTC scholarship and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in 1984, then earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee, Memphis in 1988 as an Alpha Omega Alpha member on an Air Force Health Profession Scholarship. He completed a five-year general surgery residency at UT Memphis in 1993 and a three-year plastic surgery residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio in 1996. He practiced at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington and later served as chief of plastic and reconstructive surgery at Wilford Hall, advancing to lieutenant colonel. He led or took part in seven Air Force humanitarian missions to Honduras, Peru and Paraguay, performing more than 350 reconstructive procedures.
