About John Michael Thomassen

Dr. John Michael Thomassen is a board-certified plastic surgeon in Fort Lauderdale who has served the South Florida community for close to 20 years. He focuses his practice on cosmetic plastic surgery of the face, breast and body, and also specializes in reconstructive plastic surgery of the breast. He obtained a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and graduated Magna Cum Laude from medical school at the University of Puerto Rico, completing a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health during medical school. He completed a six-year integrated plastic surgery residency and fellowship at Georgetown University Hospital. He offers complex reconstruction including free muscle flaps and DIEP flaps for breast reconstruction and serves as a preceptor for medical students and nurse practitioner students.
