Root Causes Medical Clinic is a membership-only functional and holistic medicine practice in San Antonio, Texas, founded and directed by Derek W. Guillory, MD, who became one of the first certified functional medicine practitioners in Texas in 2015. The clinic combines functional medicine assessments with bioidentical hormone therapy, biologically derived therapies including PRP and stem-cell approaches, IV nutrition, hyperbaric and other oxygen therapies, ozone, peptides, detoxification and nutrition support. Its clinical team includes a naturopathic oncologist, two advanced practice nurses and a functional psychologist, and a separate practice, Root Causes Oncology, handles integrative cancer care. Membership costs $300 per month for an individual and $100 per month for each additional tax-dependent family member on a six-month auto-renewing cycle, preceded by a $600 nurse practitioner intake screening. Patients living outside Texas are required to attend at least one in-person visit each year.
