About Derek Guillory
Derek Guillory is the founder and medical director of Root Causes Medical Clinic, a membership-only functional and holistic medicine practice in San Antonio, Texas. He became one of the first certified functional medicine practitioners in Texas in 2015, and says his interest in the field grew out of his own health struggles beginning before he turned seventeen. He earned a Bachelor of Science in education from Baylor University in 1997, graduating magna cum laude, and graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas in 2001. He continued his medical training in emergency medicine at UT Southwestern, completing it in 2004. He has been certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine continuously since 2005. He also directs a companion practice, Root Causes Oncology, which handles integrative cancer care.
