Dr. Sanderson developed an affinity for medicine early, and upon entering college he elected to get a Bachelor of Science degree in respiratory therapy with a minor in chemistry. After graduating from Texas State University with honors, he was accepted to medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He graduated medical school in the top 20% of his class and obtained a residency in the highly competitive field of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. Immediately after completing medical school Dr. Sanderson volunteered to serve in the United States Army Reserve and has served proudly for 13 years, including one combat deployment to Iraq. He currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Dr. Sanderson completed his surgical internship at the University of Tennessee in Memphis and completed his otolaryngology-head and neck surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
