Dr. Winfield Hartley’s journey into the world of plastic surgery began in a most unexpected way—through the operating room of his uncle, Dr. John Hartley, former president of the Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons. At the age of fifteen, Dr. Hartley spent his summer watching his uncle work his surgical magic, sparking a fascination with the art of transformation that has lasted ever since. With a degree in psychology from the University of Virginia and a medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta, he set out to turn his passion into a lifelong career. Dr. Hartley honed his skills in general surgery and plastic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, one of the country’s top programs. He then traveled across the globe to Melbourne, Australia, for a fellowship in Facial Aesthetic Surgery under Dr. Bryan Mendelson, a master of facial rejuvenation.
