Thompson was a faculty member at Emory in the Division of Plastic Surgery where he was recognized and awarded for his professionalism, teaching skills, and clinical acumen; he remains a clinical adjunct faculty member at Emory. Thompson has been an invited speaker to both regional and national conferences including the Annual Breast Symposium of the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the Annual Scientific Meeting of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Thompson believes strongly in the importance of international medical outreach, and has participated in Global Health educational exchanges with Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia.
