About Michael Davis
Dr. Michael Davis grew up in Southern California and studied biochemistry, physiology, and cell biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He attended the Uniformed Services University in Washington, D.C. and became a medical officer in the Air Force, then completed his general surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, including two years of vascular surgery research fellowship. He completed his plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham under Dr. Luis O. Vasconez. During a 26-year military career he served as chief of reconstructive surgery at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, Deputy Commander at the US Army Institute of Surgical Research, and Director of the US Combat Casualty Care Research Program. He was also an attending plastic and reconstructive surgeon and Professor of Surgery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
