About Kelly R. Kunkel
Dr. Kunkel grew up in Fort Worth and attended the University of Notre Dame, graduating with honors. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch, and during his fourth year of medical school traveled to Basel, Switzerland to study with one of the pioneers of facial reconstructive surgery. He completed surgery training at the University of Texas Medical Branch hospitals, winning the Outstanding Surgery Intern award in his first year, then moved to Seattle to study burn surgery at the University of Washington Harborview Medical Center. His plastic surgery training was accomplished at Oregon Health & Sciences University in Portland, Oregon, and he moved back to Fort Worth in 1994 to begin his private practice. He has been named a Fort Worth, Texas Magazine TopDoc 23 times and a Texas Monthly Texas Super Doctor 18 times.
