About Eugene J. Cherny
Eugene J. Cherny, MD, FACS, is the director of Heartland Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in Urbandale, Iowa, and has been practicing in Des Moines since 1989. He studied medicine at Rush Medical College in his hometown of Chicago and completed general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery residencies at Rutgers University in New Jersey. He is a full adjunct professor of surgery at Des Moines University and has been honored with a full fellowship by the American College of Surgeons. He is one of the few Iowa members of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and has been awarded the certificate of Advanced Education in Cosmetic Surgery three times. He served in the U.S. Army as an attending surgeon at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and in Operation Desert Storm.
