About Cara Downey
Dr. Cara R. Downey is a board-certified plastic surgeon in Houston and a proud Houston native. She has 12 years of experience and focuses on breast reconstruction after mastectomy, breast surgery, and cosmetic surgery, including DIEP reconstruction for breast cancer and restoration of the female figure after childbearing. She serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine's Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery, a position held since September 2013. She has written multiple book chapters and peer-reviewed articles and is a board member of Surgical Volunteers International.
