Foundations Functional Medicine is a solo functional medicine practice in Charlotte, North Carolina, run by Dr. Kathryn Heidt, a chiropractor with a master's degree in nutrition and specialty training as a certified functional medicine practitioner. The clinic operates inside Re_Health studios and works alongside a patient's primary care physician rather than replacing it; Dr. Heidt does not prescribe medications. Care centers on advanced blood chemistry, stool, hormone, immunological and genetic testing, with common focus areas including gut health, thyroid function, autoimmune disease, blood sugar and skin conditions. The practice does not work with insurance providers. Residents of North and South Carolina can be seen entirely virtually, while patients elsewhere need one in-person visit to establish care.
