About Bret A. Johnson, MD

I grew up in a small town located in northeastern Kansas. My hometown only had a population of 1,000 people and my graduating high school class only had 40 kids. Growing up in a small town afforded a wonderful experience to grow and develop into an adult and helped instill many of the values – hard work, determination, kindness, and collaboration – that have helped lead me to where I am today. After graduating high school I attended the University of Kansas, graduating with Highest Distinction with a B.A. in Biology and then completed my medical doctorate at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Following completion of medical school, I moved to Dallas, Texas where I completed two residencies, in both general surgery and plastic surgery, at UT Southwestern. My residency training was unparalleled, as the UT Southwestern Plastic Surgery residency is perennially ranked as the number 1 plastic surgery residency in the nation.
