About Tamara Fountain

Dr. Tamara R. Fountain is professor of ophthalmology at Rush University Medical Center and maintains a private practice in oculofacial plastic surgery at Ophthalmology Partners, Ltd. in Deerfield, in Chicago's northern suburbs. She received her B.A. in Human Biology from Stanford University and her M.D. from Harvard Medical School, completed her ophthalmology residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital's Wilmer Eye Institute, and pursued fellowship training in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at USC's Doheny Eye Institute. She was the 2021 president of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, received its Lifetime Achievement Award, and was appointed Secretary of Global Relations in 2025. She is a Past-President of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and has served as a board director for the American Board of Ophthalmology since 2022. Her practice offers blepharoplasty, ptosis repair, eyelid laxity and tear duct surgery, botulinum toxin, fillers, and facial fat grafting.
