About Mona Deerwester

Mona Deerwester, MD, MSc, FCAP, FASCP is Medical Director of Dermatopathology at Pacific Dermatology Institute and serves as a Medical Consultant to the State of California. She evaluates biopsy specimens to diagnose skin cancer, inflammatory dermatoses, psoriasis, eczema, and other acute and chronic skin disorders across all age groups. Originally from Vancouver, Canada, she earned a BSc with Honors in Physiology and a Master's in Physiology and Genetics from the University of British Columbia. She completed her Anatomic Pathology residency at NYU Langone Long Island School of Medicine, where she was Chief Resident and received the 2020 NYU Patient Experience Award. She then completed fellowship training in Surgical Pathology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and in Dermatopathology at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Her page states she is double board-certified in dermatopathology and anatomic pathology.
