About Maria Isabel Triana

Dr. Maria Isabel Triana is a board-certified ophthalmologist focused on comprehensive ophthalmology with a particular interest in glaucoma and dry eye. Originally from Bogota, Colombia, she relocated to the U.S. in 2002 after completing medical school and ophthalmology residency at Javeriana University. She served as Research Coordinator at the Texas Diabetes Institute of UT Health Science Center-San Antonio and completed a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship in Glaucoma Genetics at Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary/Harvard Medical School, where she identified a novel genetic defect associated with thin corneas. She joined the San Antonio Eye & Face Institute in 2011 and is fluent in English and Spanish.
