About John L. Whitehead
John L. Whitehead, DO is a board-certified general surgeon and the co-founder of Restore Medical Center in Bay Harbor Islands, Florida, where he performs gender affirmation surgery. He earned his osteopathic medical degree at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a five-year general surgery residency there, followed by a critical care fellowship at Northwestern University. He is double board certified in surgery and critical care and trained as a trauma surgeon at Cook County Hospital. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. He founded the practice with anesthesiologist Alain Ramirez, MD.
