About James Chelnis

James Chelnis, MD, FACS is the founder and medical director of Manhattan Face & Eye and practices as a dual board-certified oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He earned his medical degree at the Jacobs School of Medicine at the University at Buffalo, completed an internal medicine internship at Carney Hospital and an ophthalmology residency at the Ross Eye Institute, then completed a fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery through Vanderbilt University Medical Center, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Hamilton Eye Institute. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and holds faculty appointments at Mount Sinai Hospital and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai. He has served as a principal investigator on clinical trials that led to FDA-indicated aesthetic and ophthalmic devices, has published research on dry eye disease, and lectures internationally. His clinical focus is eyelid and facial aesthetic surgery, including upper and lower blepharoplasty, ptosis surgery, brow and cheek lifting, and facial fat transfer.
