About Howard S. Kaufman
Dr. Howard S. Kaufman is the named physician featured on Avalon Surgery Center's About page. He earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, completed his fellowship and surgical training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, and was an Associate Professor of Surgery, Gynecology and Obstetrics, and Oncology there. He was recruited to USC in 2002 to lead the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery, became Chief of General Surgery at USC University Hospital and Vice Chairman for Patient Safety and Quality across four USC-affiliated hospitals. He has published 67 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 18 book chapters.
