Health and beauty truly come from within ourselves, no person or society can say otherwise, but confidence and empowerment is what lets that beauty and wellness shine. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I spent 6 years caring for critically ill patients at Brigham and Women's Hospital. While I was honored to be part of those patients' journeys, I often found myself wishing healthcare placed more emphasis on prevention—helping people stay healthy rather than waiting until they became sick. I saw firsthand how powerful it can be to look beyond symptoms and understand the bigger picture. I became fascinated by the connection between lifestyle, exercise, nutrition, hormones, stress, and overall well-being — and how much those factors influence the way we feel, function, and age.
