Dr. Gary J. Alter is a board-certified plastic surgeon and board-certified urologist recognized as a leading authority on male and female aesthetic genital procedures, with contributions spanning three decades. He invented the central wedge ("Alter V") labiaplasty technique, developed new approaches to scrotum reduction and buried-penis repair, and contributed to modern male-to-female gender confirmation surgery. Dr. Alter co-authored the medical text Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery of the External Genitalia and teaches at the UCLA School of Medicine. He maintains a bi-coastal practice with offices in Beverly Hills, CA and New York City.
