Tucson Independent Physicians and Surgeons was formed in 2006, originally as Arizona Community Surgeons, but our Southern Arizona roots reach back much further. The partner organizations that makeup Tucson Independent Physicians and Surgeons (TIPS) today were originally separate surgical practices in Tucson. The founding partners, Southwestern Surgery Associates, has been in continuous operation in Tucson for more than 40 years. The founding doctors came together to form a shared vision. In the face of rapid change, increasing use of technology in healthcare and a greater need to coordinate patient care, they believed they could provide better care by coming together to form a larger group – pooling resources to increase efficiency and share best practices. In the years since we have demonstrated the wisdom of that original decision. From our beginnings, we have grown to many offices around Tucson and Southern Arizona.
