Direct Functional Medicine is a membership-based functional medicine practice in North Carolina operating alongside a direct primary care group, with five listed offices including 806 Green Valley Road in Greensboro. It is led by Helen Tackitt, DNP, RN, FNP-BC, NE-BC, the only clinician named on its site, who previously served as Director of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants at the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center and Director of Clinical Practice and Education in the Duke Cancer Network. All visits are conducted by phone or computer, with laboratory testing ordered to a local lab or mailed to the patient, and programs are open to patients aged five and up. Clinical focus areas include thyroid and sex hormones, cortisol and adrenal function, gut health, mold and heavy metal toxicity, mitochondrial dysfunction, autoimmune disease, long Covid, ADHD, autism and PANS/PANDAS. Services include bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, IV nutrient infusions, infrared sauna, IntellxxDNA genomic testing and specialty laboratory panels.
