About Rick Fermelia
Dr. Rick Fermelia, MD, FACS, D-ABOM, is the physician at Heartland Surgical in Lincoln, Nebraska, with more than 30 years of experience. After 30 years of providing surgical care he no longer operates and, as of 2024, exclusively provides office-based obesity medicine. He trained in general surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas and built a laparoscopic and bariatric surgery practice, with formal training in gastric bypass, Lap Band and gastric sleeve resection. He trained in Obesity Medicine in 2019 and is board certified in Obesity Medicine.
