About Michelle A. Bongiorno

Dr. Michelle A. Bongiorno is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic surgeon at McLean & Potomac Dermatology. Originally from Maryland, she graduated with honors from the University of Maryland and earned her medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. She began her career as an enlisted sailor in the U.S. Navy, deploying in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom aboard the USS Tortuga, and later served as a Marine Corps medical officer in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. She completed her dermatology residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, was selected chief resident, and received the Leonard Sperling Award for Clinical Excellence. She completed a Mohs micrographic surgery fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic and holds an academic appointment as Associate Professor in Dermatology at the Uniformed Services University. She served as Deputy Director for Medicine at Walter Reed and as the National Capital Region's Product Line Chair.
