About Michael J. Sakamoto

Dr. Michael J. Sakamoto was born and raised in Tokyo and holds BS and BA degrees from the University of Redlands, followed by NIH fellowship graduate study in molecular biology at Tufts and immunology at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his medical degree at UCLA, completed an internal medicine internship at Pacific Presbyterian Hospital in San Francisco, and an ophthalmology residency and chief residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital before a Shaffer fellowship in glaucoma at UCSF. He moved to the Central Valley in 1991 and practises at Central Valley Eye Medical Group. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma Society.
