About Kathryn Barbante

Dr. Kathryn Barbante is a board-certified dermatologist and Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology practicing at McLean & Potomac Dermatology. She earned a biomedical engineering degree from the University of Virginia through the Naval ROTC scholarship program and was commissioned as a Naval officer. She received her medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. After a family medicine internship at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, she served as a Naval flight surgeon in Iwakuni, Japan and Miramar, California, caring for F/A-18 Hornet and MV-22 Osprey squadrons. She completed her dermatology residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego, where she was selected as chief resident. She later served as staff dermatologist and resident educator at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune and joined the dermatology department at Walter Reed, earning Teacher of the Year and Associate Master Clinician honors.
