About Karina Somohano

Karina Somohano, MD is a fellowship-trained cornea, cataract and refractive surgeon at Florida Vision Institute. A South Florida native, she earned a BS in Neuroscience summa cum laude from the University of Miami, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and her MD from the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where she received the Dean's Award for Outstanding Contributions. She completed her ophthalmology residency at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell and a cornea and external disease fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. She has published in International Ophthalmology Clinics, IOVS and the Journal of Glaucoma, and is fluent in Spanish.
