About Emma McDonnell

Emma McDonnell, MD is a board-certified oculoplastic and reconstructive surgeon at American Eye Associates, specializing in cosmetic and functional eyelid surgery and facial reconstruction. Her training covers blepharoplasty, brow and forehead lifts, orbital and facial trauma, and tear duct surgery, in both adults and children. She earned a BS in Biology and BA in Health and Humanity summa cum laude from the University of Southern California and her MD from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She interned at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, completed ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and a fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital. She was named a San Diego County Medical Society Top Doctor in 2023, practices at the Chula Vista and National City offices, and leads the group's oculoplastic services at Chula Vista. She is fluent in English and proficient in Spanish.
