About Denia Tapscott

Denia Tapscott, MD is an internal medicine, functional medicine and obesity medicine physician at Capital Integrative Health in Potomac, Maryland. She has practiced for over eighteen years, beginning her career in Washington, DC, and has spent the last thirteen years treating obesity in patients across the DC area. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine and has developed and directed several hospital-affiliated medical and surgical weight loss programs. She later served as Associate Professor of Medicine at Howard University, lecturing locally and nationally on obesity and cardiometabolic disease. She attended medical school at Georgetown University after undergraduate study at the University of Virginia, and turned to functional medicine following her own breast cancer diagnosis.
