About David A. Edwards

David A. Edwards, MD, PhD is a co-founder and physician at Paradigm Health in Franklin, Tennessee. Born in Red Deer, Alberta, he moved to the United States after high school and completed a combined MD/PhD at the University of Maryland on full scholarship, describing during his neurophysiology doctorate some of the initial mechanistic pathways of the brain's endocannabinoid system. He spent four years at the University of Florida training in internal medicine and anesthesiology as chief resident, followed by fellowship training in pain medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, where he taught at Harvard Medical School and led the acute pain service and pediatric pain clinic. He moved to Nashville in 2015 and established Vanderbilt's first chronic pain service and its cancer pain clinic, later serving as Chief of Pain Medicine at Vanderbilt University in the departments of anesthesiology and neurological surgery. He is a past president of the Tennessee Pain Society and has published over 60 articles and authored eight books.
