About Annette Sophin
Annette Sophin, MSMM, PA-C is a physician assistant at The Institute of Advanced Medicine in Lauderhill, Florida. She previously served as clinical director of Keiser University's physician assistant program in Fort Lauderdale, and as assistant professor and academic coordinator of the physician assistant program at Nova Southeastern University, where she also received her master of science degree. She earned her PA designation through LIU and Brooklyn Hospital and completed a surgical fellowship through the Montefiore PA Surgical Training Program. Her introduction to functional medicine came in New York City in 1984, working at one of the original functional medicine practices there providing healing therapies for chronically ill patients, many of whom had given up on allopathic medicine. She describes her practice as rooted in the view that the root causes of disease, and the treatments that follow from them, lie in food, nutrition and the way patients live.
