Upstream Functional Medicine is a functional medicine practice in Colorado Springs, Colorado, created by nurse practitioner Jeff Hunter and Anna Hunter, who serves as chief operations officer. The practice sells all-inclusive service packages built around five areas — nutrition, fitness, gut health, adrenal and hormone balance, and detoxification. Clinical care is delivered by Hunter, who holds dual certification as a nurse practitioner and through the Institute for Functional Medicine and has practiced in the Colorado Springs area since 2003, and by physician assistant Johnny Davis. Functional lab work — nutritional and inflammation markers, extended cardiovascular screening, full thyroid and hormone panels, microbiome and genetic markers — forms the basis of each care plan. The practice works primarily with individuals and couples seeking answers for symptoms often dismissed as a normal part of aging.
