About Smile Downers Grove

Dr. Elizabeth Spence loves practicing dentistry because she feels it is the perfect balance of science and art. Dr. Spence grew up in Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition. She completed her dental education at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine from which she earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine. Dr. Spence found nutrition to be a natural transition to dentistry because of the whole body connection between oral health and systemic health. She finds joy in helping patients meet their oral health goals whether they are general, restorative, or cosmetic. She strongly believes in educating patients about how their oral health affects their overall health and how signs of systemic health can be evident in their oral condition. She believes well-educated patients make the best decisions and, therefore, commits herself to spending time with each patient to ensure all treatment options are fully under
