She graduated from Alamance Community College with a certificate in Dental Assisting in 1994 and also took her DANB exam to become a certified dental assistant which allowed her to perform all the expanded functions of a dental assistant. She later decided to attend Guildford Technical Community College where she obtained an Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene in 2000 and graduated top of her class.
