Better Weigh Center, led by founding surgeon Dr. Lloyd Stegemann, is a combined medical and surgical weight loss practice in Corpus Christi, Texas, and describes itself as the only center in the city offering both approaches under one roof. Dr. Stegemann, a board-certified general surgeon and founding president of the Texas Association for Bariatric Surgery, has performed over 2,000 bariatric procedures including gastric bypass, gastric banding, and sleeve gastrectomy, and serves as medical director of the metabolic and bariatric surgery programs at Bay Area Hospital and South Texas Surgical Hospital. The practice is MBSAQIP-accredited and also includes second surgeon Dr. Jegan Gopal, who performed the first robotic bariatric surgery in Corpus Christi, along with a team of nurse practitioners offering medical weight-loss and hormone therapy.
