About Elm Grove Dental

Schmid Family Dentistry renamed and moved locations in May 2026. Formerly known as Elm Grove Dental, this practice was founded in 1988 by Dr. Michael Wilcox. He moved his office to the current location in 2001 when he completed a full renovation of the building to outfit a dental practice. His associate, Dr. Mary Palmer Gioia, joined his practice in 1998. Together they served the community with quality dental care for over 20 years. In 2019 Dr. Mike was considering his retirement and through mutual friends was able to connect with Dr. David Schmid and Dr. Gabrielle Helms who were at the time practicing in Inwood, WV and Martinsburg, WV. Being born and raised in Wheeling, WV, Dr. Dave and Dr. Gabby were looking for an opportunity to move back to their hometown to practice Dentistry closer to their family. In December 2020, Dr. Dave joined Elm Grove Dental and transitioned into owner of the practice when Dr. Mike retired in April 2021. In July 2021, Dr. Gabby joined her brother and Dr. M
