About Design Dental

Dr. Trish Schminke’s passion for dentistry started 20 years ago when she landed a job working as a dental assistant while in college. She then practiced as a registered dental hygienist at Design Dental for 14 years prior to her acceptance to the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. After receiving her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, she was able to return to the patients and co-workers she dearly missed while attending dental school and has fulfilled her lifelong dream of serving others. In order to provide ideal, comprehensive care for her patients, Trish has chosen to follow in the footsteps of her mentor, Dr. Tu, and is currently furthering her dental education at the post-graduate program, The Dawson Academy. Dr. Schminke was honored to accept a position as adjunct faculty at the College of Dentistry and can be found overseeing fourth-year dental students in the Family Dentistry Clinic every Friday.
