Growing up to Italian immigrant parents, family was a very important value I learned at an early age. As I remember, whenever someone came to our home, whether they were related or not, my parents opened our home and treated everyone like family. From food to entertainment to advice, it was great environment to be in. I continued those values into my practice, and I truly value the idea that I treat my patients like family. Families stick around forever, and support you in good and bad times. Periodontal treatment is not a single event visit to the dentist. It usually requires a long term relationship that does not disappear. It can be scary, and having familiar faces is comforting. Just like family, periodontal treatment and maintenance sticks with you and a periodontist is there to help you in mostly good times, but especially when you have issues you need addressed.
