Mine is one of experiences and struggles that shaped me into the wellness advocate I am today. I grew up just down the street from a large cemetery, watching the many funerals make their way past my home — and I became fascinated with how to prolong people's lives. Like every young boy, I wanted to be a superhero, so I set out to become the greatest one I could think of: a doctor. The first years of practice were emotionally taxing. Seeing patients in pain, I began paying attention to why certain treatments didn't benefit certain people — and realized the medical system is built to care for people once they are already ill, rather than to prevent illness in the first place.
