As a veteran ER nurse of nearly 20 years, I was burnt out and looking for a change . I wanted control of my time for the benefit of my family and my mental health. The idea of this seemed like a dream. I knew nothing about aesthetics when I apprehensively decided to pursue it. Alongside my continued work as a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) for Polk Co since 2016, the next 4 years working part time at 2 different MedSpas propelled me excitedly into a completely different career path allowing me to retire my career in the ER in 2022. I have to admit, I was not prepared for the impact this new role would have on me. I worried I wouldn't feel I was still "taking care" of patients as I had in the ER. Man was I wrong! To educate , listen , goal plan , and execute treatments that leave my clients feeling more confident in their own skin and when they look in the mirror is extremely humbling. Helping someone with their self confidence that can be life changing for them, is hard to put in
